僕はこの曲をピーター・ポール&マリーの歌で知りました。
ディランは、オデッタが歌う「競売はたくさんだ」のカヴァーをし
それをきっかけにしてこの曲を作ったといわれています。
黒人奴隷の悲しみと自由への願いを歌っています。

また、当時の恋人、スーズ・ロトロの存在も大きかったようです。（ジャケットの写真↑）
人種平等会議の書記として、黒人の現状などをディランに話して聞かせていました。
ディランは、スーズとともに政治集会に参加し、戦争について、有色人種への差別について
語り合う日々を過ごしました。しかし、答えは見つからない。答えは風に吹かれている。
『風に吹かれて』は、こうしたディランの日常そのものから生まれました。
